If you want straighter teeth and more properly aligned jaws, but you can’t bear the thought of wearing metal braces and the wires and brackets that are associated with them, we at Davis Family Orthodontics have good news for you. With Invisalign, our Willow Wind orthodontist can offer you an alternative to braces that is more comfortable, uses state-of-the-art technology, and has no negative impact on your appearance. But it still does an outstanding job in moving your teeth into the position where they belong.
Technically, Invisalign is system of clear aligners made out of plastic, though they are sometimes called invisible braces. No one needs to know you are wearing it, except for you and our Willow Wind orthodontist. It is virtually undetectable to the naked eye. The aligners are made right here at our office using an advanced 3-D computer. Most patients will wear a total of 18 to 30 aligners during the course of treatment, although this varies from person to person. Each one is made to fit you precisely. You will wear it for about two weeks and then discard it in favor of the next one.
Unlike metal braces, you can remove Invisalign. You will only take it out to brush, floss, and eat, though. Otherwise, you wear them all day and all night, even while you sleep. Because you eat with the aligner out, you won’t have to restrict any foods in your diet. Invisalign is also more comfortable than metal braces, which can dig into your gums or cause mouth irritation. Our Willow Wind orthodontist wants you to know that in addition to the cosmetic benefits from using Invisalign, there are also practical reasons to make the decision. Improperly aligned teeth are harder to floss between efficiently, putting you at an increased risk for tooth decay and gum disease. Also, misaligned teeth can cause you discomfort.
When you consider all of the plusses that Invisalign has to speak of, why would you continue to put off having orthodontic treatment? Call us right now and schedule a consultation with our Willow Wind orthodontist to find out if Invisalign is right for you.
