Today, it is very common for adults to have orthodontic treatment, as well as children. So if you are unhappy with your smile, or if your smile is not as healthy as it can be due to crowded teeth or other orthodontic conditions, you will want to come to see us at our orthodontic practice. Our Rockbridge orthodontist can help fix any patient’s smile that will benefit from orthodontic treatment. It is now recommended by the American Association of Orthodontists that a child has their first orthodontic evaluation by the time they reach the age of seven. This new treatment is called interceptive orthodontic care. It allows our orthodontist to provide treatment at an early age that will make it less necessary for your child to need involved orthodontic treatment later on. Usually, a child will not need to get braces at this early stage, but there are different types of treatments that may need to be provided. Additionally, our orthodontist can also determine at what age your child should come in for braces. When your child has early interceptive orthodontic care, they may be treated to: create room for crowded teeth; create facial symmetry by influencing jaw growth; reduce the risk of trauma to protruding front teeth; preserve space for teeth which have yet to erupt; reduce the need for tooth removal; or reduce treatment time with braces. Adults and teens can also receive complete orthodontic care. We offer treatment with all different types of braces, including Invisalign invisible braces.
